Hey! Back at it again with this week’s Going Gainesville Featured Video taking us to India – right in our backyard!

I’m Lesley Salman with Salman Home Realty joined this week by Meg Gem, Manager of Making Everything Good! Bob Sanregret, the events coordinator at Taste of India, sat down with us to give us an inside look on this local culinary adventure.

Bob is friends with a bunch of local restaurant owners (including the owner of Byblos – a past Going Gainesville feature and fan favorite) and has asked us to test-taste a delicious wine tasting from both Indian and Lebanese wines. Our “expert” palates have been asked to help come up with the tasting menu (Bob has great taste in finding people with great taste 😉 )

We’re LOVING Taste of India’s cucumber salad paired with a Sultry sauvignon blanc – a popular wine producer in India.

The correct way to pair libations with the counterpart foods? Bob tells us “Start with the wine. Sip the wine, think about the flavor, then try the salad, then back to the wine – ask, “Did they compliment each other?” If yes – you’ve got a great pairing.

And what’s dinner without exotic desserts? Taste of India offers a carrot pudding – a pureed carrot with a little bit of flavor joined with a rice pudding making a really unique dish that pairs wonderfully with these neat wines changing the flavor as you go along the tasting menu.
