Hey there, Lesley here – the owner of Salman Home Realty and your host on Going Gainesville’s weekly featured video where we shine some light on some local gems here in Gainesville, Haymarket, and just beyond. From events to local shops, there’s a little something for everyone here on Going Gainesville!

I’m joined by our local celebrity from the Western Prince William Chatter and owner of Piedmont Tire & Auto, John Filippone (he may sound familiar to you as Piedmont was our featured business 2 weeks ago – that reminds me, I need an oil change). John’s a long-time fan of Tony’s and who better to introduce us to this amazing restaurant than the very man who hired them to cater his daughters’ christenings.

We’re grabbin’ a slice this week at Tony’s New York Pizza where owner, Dan Ankrum, and manager, Sal D’Agostino. They’ve snagged “Best Pizza” in the Gainesville Lifestyle Magazine, and we’re here to find out why.

What makes them different? They’re family-oriented both inside and out. Tony’s is family-run and provides family-fun because that’s what they are!

“But wait – are there more than one Tony’s?” Yep – success follows great food, and these guys. Their first location was opened on Mathis Avenue in Manassas in 1989 – it’s their flagship store where Tony’s own son runs the show. In 2007, the expanded to Bristow and 2010 in Haymarket where we filmed!

The recipes Tony uses? There are no secrets here. Use the best ingredients. Just genuine fresh food. Cheese? Comes from the state known for cheese, of course. All their cheeses are sourced from Wisconsin.

What we tried:
🍕 Homemade Meat Balls (with local basil and homemade sauce)
🍕 Foccacia bread with – you guessed it, cheese
🍕 Crabmeat, spiral pasta, and shrimp with sauce
🍕 Steak and Cheese (a classic and their #1 seller)

Let me just say – it was DELICIOUS. Please send my condolences to my diet place.
